Our Story
Long Island Liver Transplant Organization is a nonprofit organization aiming to serve as a beacon of hope and a uniting factor for younger individuals experiencing similar health paths. Saif Saleem and his brother, Sami, as resilient toddlers, were diagnosed with Homozygous familial hypercholesterolemia. They had to undergo a liver transplant at ages 7 and 10. Not until recently has Saif begun to understand the impact this transplant had on his, and his brother’s life. He made the decision to turn his personal adversity into an opportunity for positive change. Our organization focuses on providing comprehensive support, advocacy, and resources to young patients navigating liver disease. We strive to ensure that no young person faces this journey alone. The Long Island Liver Transplant Organization is not just an organization; it is a testament to the power of compassion and community. Saif’s journey from patient to advocate fuels our commitment to making a meaningful impact in the lives of young individuals and their families.
Our Team
Hi, my name is Saif Saleem and I’m a rising senior at The Wheatley School in Old Westbury, New York. I am the founder and president of LILTO, an organization I established following my own liver transplant experience. Having observed the financial struggles many patients face, I am dedicated to providing support through this initiative. In addition to leading LILTO, I am actively involved in several school clubs, including the Debate Club, Stock Club, DECA, Chess Club, Math Olympiad, Music Production, and Model UN. My diverse interests and commitments reflect my passion for making a positive impact both within and beyond my school community.

My name is Cyrus Andaz, and I am a student at Wheatley High School on Long Island. I am deeply committed to community service and have dedicated numerous hours volunteering at Mount Sinai Hospital. My passion for supporting and giving back to my community drives my involvement with LILTO, where I aim to represent and raise awareness for underrepresented groups.
